About the Event

Tourism in the Turks and Caicos Islands is a one-hour panel discussion examining the origins, growth, and future outlook of the country’s tourism industry. From the deliberate positioning of TCI as a luxury destination to the intersection of innovation, culture, sustainability, and economic resilience, the conversation will illuminate how tourism continues to serve as a cornerstone of national development.

Moderated by Gabriel Saunders, a leading voice in destination marketing and storytelling, the panel features:

  • Hon. Norman B. Saunders Sr., revered as the “Father of Tourism” in the Turks and Caicos Islands, whose leadership established the foundation for the country’s luxury tourism model.

  • Hon. E. Jay Saunders, Minister of Innovation, Technology, and Energy, offering insight into policy, investment, and the future readiness of the tourism sector.

  • Dr. Dellareese Higgs, Cultural Anthropologist with the Turks and Caicos National Trust, bringing a vital perspective on heritage, community, and sustainable development.

Together, the panel will explore how tourism has evolved across generations, how it balances growth with cultural and environmental stewardship, and how innovation and leadership will shape the next chapter of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
