Fourth of July Under Island Skies

The evening begins poolside, where the grill takes center stage. As the sun sinks and the horizon turns to gold, the fire comes alive — steaks finished with chimichurri, island-spiced seafood, and bright summer salads. Chilled rosé and prosecco poured generously into the evening. It's the kind of feast meant to be lingered over — plates passed, glasses raised, the night stretching out in that unhurried island rhythm.

As night settles in, the shoreline begins to glow. Gather fireside on the beach for sparklers and s'mores under open sky.

And then — fireworks. At nine, they bloom above the water, brilliant against the night sky and mirrored across the Caicos horizon. Salt air, starlight, and a moment that lingers long after the final spark fades.

A celebration both spirited and refined. Distinctly American. Completely Salterra.

Salterra x Chef Niven Patel

This summer, Salterra hosts an extraordinary culinary residency with acclaimed chef Niven Patel — founder of Ghee Indian Kitchen — whose ingredient-driven cuisine has reshaped modern Indian dining in America.

Chef Niven earned national recognition for pairing vibrant, traditional Indian flavors with a rigorous farm-to-table ethos. Much of his produce is cultivated at Rancho Patel, his two-acre organic farm in Homestead, Florida, where turmeric, moringa, custard apples, and heirloom vegetables are grown with care and intention.

Under the umbrella of FEAL Hospitality, his culinary vision extends through concepts including Orno, Erba, NiMo Coastal Mediterranean, and Paya — each unified by reverence for seasonality, technique, and expressive flavor.

At Salterra, his philosophy finds new terrain. Here, the island becomes the pantry. Just-caught snapper. Caribbean lobster at peak season. Indigenous herbs. Tropical fruits warmed by salt air. Smoke, spice, citrus, and sea converge in dishes that feel both ancestral and entirely of this place.

The Residency

Over five days, the experience unfolds across the island — each event intentionally limited to preserve intimacy and access.

Friday, July 24 · 7:30 PM — Pani Puri Night: Meet the Chef · The Spa A spirited welcome reception. Meet Chef Niven over crisp pani puri filled to order — bright chutneys, spiced potatoes, tangy waters. An immersive introduction to Indian street food and the philosophy behind Ghee.

Saturday, July 25 · 2:00 PM — Introduction to Ghee · Cobo Terrace A guided journey through the story of Ghee and modern Indian cooking, followed by an interactive spice-making session — toasting, grinding, and blending the foundational building blocks of flavor.

Saturday, July 25 · 8:00 PM — Cobo Colour Party Dinner · Family Style · $199++ with wine Signature Ghee favorites served family-style beneath open sky — layered spices, vibrant chutneys, slow-cooked meats, and bold coastal flavor. Guests are invited to dress in vibrant jewel tones — saffron, marigold, magenta, and turquoise — as wine and warm sea air carry the evening into celebration.

Sunday, July 26 · 11:30 AM — Island Day Lunch Experience · Secluded Cay · $299++ with wine An off-property island escape where sea and fire take center stage. A Paya-inspired, grill-focused menu of pristine crudo and flame-kissed shellfish on a secluded cay, with a curated champagne partnership.

Monday, July 27 · 8:00 PM — Tandoori Night at Lucari Ocean Terrace · Finale · $249++ cocktail included The residency culminates at the clay oven. Tandoori-fired meats and seafood, charred breads, smoke and spice — Chef Niven at his most expressive, where the heat of the tandoor meets the catch of the sea. Wine available by the bottle.

Reservations required. Seating across all events is intentionally limited. guestexperiences@salterra.com | +1 (866) 725-8377

The Art of Connection

A Creative Retreat in Sketching and Photography

Salterra Resort & Spa, South Caicos | November 11–14, 2026

Why We Travel

The Art of Connection is an intimate, all-inclusive creative retreat at Salterra Resort & Spa, a secluded luxury property in the Caribbean. It combines guided sketching and photography with the unique experience of South Caicos, featuring open skies, salt flats, flamingo habitats, natural untouched environment and crystalline seascapes. With only 10 to 12 participants, it offers rare access, expert guidance, and time for reflection.

This retreat is not a workshop added to a resort stay. The landscape serves as our studio.

No prior experience in sketching or photography is required. Participants need only curiosity and a willingness to slow down. This retreat is designed for adults seeking cultural immersion and meaningful connections, making it ideal for couples, solo travelers, and friends.

Two Tools. One Practice

Sketching and photography are parallel approaches to deliberate observation. Sketching lets us capture immediate impressions, while photography helps us frame and focus. Both require presence and yield unique personal records of the travel experience.

Participants can freely alternate between sketching and photography throughout the retreat. The aim is not mastery but using both mediums as tools for connection to the place, the people, and a new way of seeing that can be taken home.
